Highlights
Jamie Jordan & Jon Hogan stayed in Athens. Jamie had school work and Jon's father had a birthday. We missed you guys!Hurricane Sandy was out in the Atlantic. We had no idea where she would be on game day. We all bought our ponchos and rainsuits but none of us ever felt a drop of rain! It was amazing. The wind was blowing but the weather was perfect. A little on the chilly side but nothing bad.
Kerry Jordan bought us all party supplies.... necklaces and confetti and I saw other things. After it was official, and the Bulldogs won I had 6 people throwing confetti inside the stadium. It was a lot of fun!!! Thank you, Kerry! I have put my necklaces away and saving my good luck charms for next year.
Jimmy Jordan arranged for our parking spots and they were great! We were able to park in WJTC parking lot and we had spots 187, 188 and 189. The best thing Jimmy arranged was for us to have our very own private Porta Potty! We never had to leave our tailgate.
Byron Jordan, of course, carried all of our supplies and Byron, Wallace, Jimmy, Mary, Ed and Alane all packed into his "Big Red Machine" with our tents, tables, chairs and food. Amazingly it was a very comfortable ride from Amelia Island. Thanks for being our chauffeur!
Parker Morgan shared his "Thursday Night Sermon"
with all of us. I thought this was worth posting!
The experts say we don’t stand much chance against the boys in orange and blue. That’s okay. The experts don’t always get it right. And they most certainly don’t know everything. They may know how to read a forecast, but they don’t know what it’s like to wake up on Saturday in Athens and experience the first crisp morning of the fall. They don’t know that while football may have begun in September, it has now arrived. They may know that Highway 15 will take the to Athens, but they don’t know that it will lead them past a barn near Tennille with words of wisdom for all those traveling near. They may know the legend of Lindsay Scott, but they don’t know the agony of timeouts in the rain or the joy of Robert Edwards still running up that sideline. They may know things aren’t perfect and they excel at pointing out what’s wrong. And plenty is. This isn’t hoops and Kentucky isn’t coached by the Bear anymore. Meanwhile, the Gators are taking apart the Gamecocks and their perpetual championship dreams. How do 35-7 losers stand a chance? But what they don’t know is that this is the game we’ve been waiting for. They don’t know that for this week, nothing else matters except that Atlanta is there for the taking – a detour in Jacksonville standing in the way.Georgia will never be a championship team until the cocktail party is no longer an albatross hung round our collective necks. Last year helped. But what a fine time to let that bird really fly away.No doubt it will be tough, and the experts may get this one right. But I’m looking forward to this game not in trepidation, but with excitement. Because we’ve got a shot, and that’s all I can ask for. Come Sunday things may be different, but for this week I’ve just got just two words on my mind and I hope you do too.Go Dawgs!
